Fashion trends come and go, but fashion is an expression of the soul. Beauty is cultural. Everyone has a uniqueness that will reflect their traditions and history in one way or the other; fashion and beauty are no exception. Always be sure that your accessories, pieces of clothing, and look stand out to make people say, “Wow.”  True individuality exists in spite of the ever changing fashion industry, current perception of beautiful, or the undying desire to be different; classic fashions are a true representation of this, eternal worldwide, and therefore sought after in every walk of life.

While on the subject, in adopting a hat as a possible signature piece, you must also accept the responsibility of hat etiquette. This is mostly one for the boys, but the ladies should make an attempt.

Too often ignored, and quite honestly a showing of ignorance, the lack of respectfully donning a hat also shows a lack of respect for where trends and fads originate.

It is one thing to be unique, have finesse, or walk your own path. It is quite another to just have a total lack of manners. The rules really are simple and not too difficult to adhere to.

Such as, promptly remove your hat when you enter an elevator, restaurant, or someone’s home. And never wear your hat during a meal. Keep this in mind when choosing your hairstyle to compliment.

It is also a sign of fashion education and class to touch the brim of your hat lightly when greeting a friend, and especially to raise the hat by the crown when meeting a female friend in public.

This one should go without saying, but so should a lot of other things that must be said. Remove your hat during the national anthem and place it over your heart. Regardless of the anthem, your hair, or ego.

Hats can leave you feeling of effortlessly cool and confident. Few people loved hats more, or wore them better than Frank Sinatra.

He was constantly playing with the idea of angling and tilting his hat to convey different attitudes. There is something to be learned from everyone you come across, and this is one not to be missed.

According to Frank wear your hat pushed back to seem more accessible; something to keep in mind the next time you just don't understand why everyone seem standoffish sporting your favorite new lid.

Oppositely, tilt it down over your eyes to seem more mysterious or intimidating. There is a fine line here and your facial expression and attire will have everything to do with which way you are received.

And one not to be underestimated, tilt your hat up 1 inch from completely straight to show you are all-business. Don't ask me why it works, I did not think of it. But who can question tried and true.

Hats are not only stylish, but functional, too. How fab is that! They casually cover a bad hair day, keep your head warm when it is chilly, and shade your eyes from the sun's blinding rays.

They add class and sophistication, display personality and vigor, and can be the perfect finishing accent to your favorite outfit. Hats are an absolute boost your confidence; possibly your signature.

And I am not talking about the common, ratty baseball cap, hippie beanies, or the almost gone (thankfully) trucker hat. They have their place, but there are other options, for men and women alike.

The flat cap has a rounded shape, a small brim and a high back. Frequently associated with the working class in the UK, the flat cap adds interest to a casual outfit.

The similar, but rounder and puffier newsboy cap is too cute for ladies.

Either way, it's the ideal way to give your tired jeans and t-shirt some style.

Fedora are soft, usually made of felt, creased lengthwise down the crown, and pinched on both sides. Some say you cannot pair a fedora with jeans; they are only an appropriate for dressier outfits.

But what do they know?

Worn by prohibition era gangsters, most movie stars of the 1940’s, and Old Blue Eyes himself, a fedora is luminous and a bit mysterious. This is you hat if you demand to be seen.

The Porkpie, named for its resemblance to an actual pork pie, is similar to a fedora but with a flat top and no pinched crown. The brim is also shorter and turned up.

This is the hat is associated with the jazz, blues, and ska culture.

So, if you looking for a less laid back statement piece, a porkpie is a great add; try a colored band for added flair.

The Homburg is another hat similar to the fedora. The Homburg’s brim lacks the fedora’s pinches and is turned up all the way around.

With a hat-band and usually with a feather accent, it is less casual than a top hat and dressier than a fedora.

The Homburg was favored by the Godfather and resurrected by the likes of Snoop Dogg and Tupac. Needless to say, the Homburg now carries a distinctly gangster flavor.

Derby/Bowlers are hard, made of felt, and have very short brims. A British icon, the bowler was part of the urban culture of 19th century America.

One of the gangs of the mean streets of New York City around this time were the Plug Uglies.

The Uglies were never without their bowler hats; a signature piece and protection alike. This one can't help but look tough; sometimes an outfit needs edge.

Glamor isn’t only for the rich and famous, even though most would like you to believe it is. The real deal is that if you’ve got great style, killer confidence, amazing legs, or whatever your “it” may be, it’s just wrong not to flaunt it.

Nothing beats the rush you feel when you look in the mirror and LOVE what you see. Experiment with all that you have at your fingertips and make an effort to do something a little different everyday. Find what inspires you and embrace it.

Whether you have a corporate job and wear suits as the norm or are in college with all the freedoms that go with the experience, there is some common ground. We all want to look great! There's no better time than the present to mix it up and reinvent yourself. Change with the seasons, not the stars.

Fashion is one of the rare instances where art comes alive! How powerful is it to make a statement that speaks with no words? Even better, how fun is it to watch the heads turn, then stop to enjoy?

Make your fashion faux pas and turn them into fashion fads, even if you have to make an adjustment somewhere in the course of you day to make it happen. Nothing is permanent; especially an outfit.

The spirit of art is to be alive and always changing. Mistakes happen to us all, but not everyone has the spirit to turn them into an experience. Be truly unique and flexible in what you consider your style.

An unlikely source, I know, but Seinfeld once said something like your style will never improve if your look is “I give up.” On this one he was right. What artist stops mid-way, never to complete their work?

I'll tell you, one with no inspiration. Celebrate life; that fabulous dress cost too much to be worn once. And you’re way more gorgeous than you know; test your confidence and stand out in a crowd. Be art.
