Show them what you've got
Male cleavage, especially on the silver screen, is nothing new in pop culture. In the 1920s we had Douglas Fairbanks Sr. "The Thief of Baghdad" and "The Iron Mask." In the 1930s there was Errol Flynn in "The Adventures of Robin Hood."
In both cases man-cleavage was the attraction; making it appear masculine. This trend continued well into the 1960s, by men like Marlon Brando and Sean Connery. Come on girls, we all know Mr. Bond. Then we finished off in the 1970s and John Travolta. "Saturday Night Fever" brought the age of chest hair.
Now we are in present day and here we go again. But not every man is Tom Ford. If you did not know he is the guy that spent the 1990s as the head designer and creative director for Gucci and being the guy wearing a dress shirt unbuttoned practically to his navel. And looking hot doing it.
So, the trend lives on. And for those who don't have the goods naturally, cosmetic surgery has become a popular solution. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that pectoral implants more than tripled in 2008 and climbing. So, just like women, men starting bearing their breasts as soon as film started rolling and it hasn't really stopped since.
Marketing and iconic sex symbols have had an effect on what is considered to be sexy. And In some cases they will do anything for the perfect chests, even surgery. Sounds like there might not be so many differences between boys and girls after all. We just have to keep the rules the same; maintenance or remove any hair, keep the skin healthy, and use judgment. There is a time and a place for cleavage.
